You can find QLED TVs from nearly every major manufacturer at this point. What makes it 'quantum', according to Samsung's marketing arm, is that it uses a quantum dot color filter in front of its LCD backlight, which improves contrast and color vibrancy. QLED is very distinct from OLED, in that it isn't self-emissive, and still makes use of a backlight. Until 2017, Samsung called its flagship TVs SUHD, but that wasn't working as well as it hoped, so it's now called them QLED – which stands for Quantum-dot Light Emitting Diode.

QLED isn't a new TV technology as much as it is a rebrand. Why is that important? It basically allows each individual pixel to turn on and off independently allowing for that infinite contrast and inky black levels that OLED is known for. OLED – which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode – uses a carbon-based film between two conductors that emits its own light when an electric current is passed through. We can summarize the OLED vs QLED battle in one sentence: QLED is a tweak of existing LCD technology, while OLED is a new technology altogether. So here's a good point and stop for some background information on QLED and OLED TVs – how are they different and what can you expect from them. T19:28:06.964Z OK, let's take a break from price points and focus on panel technology If you want a supersized TV for Cyber Monday – buy this LG NanoCell 90 at Walmart for $2,296 (save $1,000).That's what I call a big Cyber Monday TV deal. What I like most, however, is the price: it's just $2,296 at Walmart after a MASSIVE $1,000 price drop. In terms of supported formats, the NanoCell 90 supports LG's Cinema HDR, Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos – all of which are huge boons for the TV – and it comes with WebOS with ThinQ that has most major apps supported.

I'm nearly positive that this would be powerful enough to crunch all that picture data and do a good enough job to fill an 86-inch screen.

I'm pretty partial to this LG 86-inch NanoCell 90 that has full array local dimming and uses LG's new α7 Gen4 AI Processor 4K w/ AI Picture & AI Sound. (Image credit: LG) I couldn't find a quality 85-inch TV under $2,000 – but this is even betterįinding huge screens at a low price is exceptionally hard after Cyber Monday – but it's not impossible. The latter of which tends to offer better built-in audio than any other OLED TV maker out there.Ĭheck out our best TV brands page for more info on each of them! However, if you're looking for a high-end OLED then something from LG, Sony or Panasonic is a better option. If you're on a budget then a cheaper TV brand like Hisense or TCL is a good bet thanks to both brands offering good features at very good prices. Each have different product ranges encompassing different prices and features. There are dozens of brands out there but we generally only recommend Samsung, LG, Sony, Vizio, Panasonic, TCL, Philips, and Hisense.
